EuroStemCell– BetaCellTherapy bridge

FUNDING INNOVATIVE IDEAS
ON GENERATING BETA CELLS FROM STEM CELLS

The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International (JDRF) funds a collaborative platform between two European Framework 6 consortia: EuroStemCell and BetaCellTherapy.

Purpose

This collaboration is intended to bring together complementary expertise and promote innovative research between the consortia. The objective is to stimulate progress towards generation of beta cells from stem cells and a potential cure for diabetes.

Funding

Commencing in 2004, JDRF has allocated to each consortium an annual budget of US$200,000 to establish and develop this collaborative platform. It is used as a bridge in the communication and training efforts of both partners and to support joint meetings and preliminary studies.

Fast-track funding of up to US$75,000 is available for promising and realistic projects that can generate new knowledge and/or reagents within 18 months. Investigators within EuroStemCell or BetaCellTherapy, and those outside the consortia, can propose collaborative projects to the coordinators of the consortia.

Propose a collaboration

If you identify an opportunity for collaboration, contact Austin Smith or Danny Pipeleers in the first instance with an outline proposal. Invited full proposals should be sent to Christel Hendrieckx using the form below. All proposals will be evaluated, in confidence, by external reviewers.
